ABOUT THIS COIN: The Koala was the inaugural release of Perth Mint’s Australian Opal Series – the coin that started it all. Each piece in this series features a genuine fragment of Australian opal, the country’s national gemstone, set into the silver reverse. Due to the natural formation of opal, color and pattern vary between coins, making every single piece one-of-a-kind. With a worldwide mintage of just 8,000, this is a highly collectible piece sought by both silver investors and numismatic collectors.
