Own a scarce modern private silver issue struck for America’s 250th anniversary. This is a 2026 Semiquincentennial Liberty Dollar, a one-ounce. 999 fine silver proof round limited to only 600 pieces. This example is serial numbered 553 of 600 and comes with its original Certificate of Authenticity signed by Bernard von Nothaus. Bernard von Nothaus, former mintmaster of the Royal Hawaiian Mint and creator of the original NORFED Liberty Dollar (launched in 1998), designed this piece as a private silver alternative celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The Liberty Dollar tradition began as a voluntary silver-backed currency intended to compete with Federal Reserve notes. This 2026 round continues the design language of the classic Liberty head and torch while marking the Semiquincentennial. The obverse features the classic left-facing Liberty head wearing a radiate crown, with the inscriptions LIBERTY, TRUST IN GOD, and USA. The reverse shows a central torch flanked by crossed early American and modern U. A prominent central plaque reads USA 250th ANNIVERSARY, with 1776 and 2026 dates. Surrounding legends include SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL, DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, LIBERTY DOLLAR, and ONE OZ SILVER. Collectors of the Liberty Dollar series treat low-mintage modern issues as desirable additions. With a total mintage of only 600, this piece is far scarcer than most earlier common-date Liberty Dollars.
